Basically, study is an activity to comprehend and to understand something new that we do not know at all, no matter whether it is new information or new knowledge about everything on the world. In this activity, we need so much energy to absorb the information into our memory. Most of the energy is used for concentration, and the concentration it self is the main part that we need when we study or when we learn something maximally. So, it is mean that, concentration is an absolute requirement for us if we want to get the information optimally.
But, if we try to observe the way of study in our society, we will find so many unique ways of study in there. For instance, there were some people learn something by eating snack, or study by drinking, even study by listening the instrumental music. But there was an unique way, that is study by watching television. Actually the nature of television is an electronic media to amuse or to entertain people from stress without need a big concentration by giving information that are in form of movies, music videos, serial movies, news, and so on. But in the other hand, studying is an activity that needs big concentration. I think by combining studying and watching television is bad idea. Because from the definition between studying and watching television is incompatible.
In this article, I will try to observe the soul symptom of studying by watching television. Here, I have a respondent, her name is Endriana Ristiana, and she is first grade in SMPN (junior high school) 6 Yogyakarta. She lives in Pucang Anom, Sleman, Yogyakarta.
The mechanism of this observation is:
1. It will be divided to be 2 sections unconsciously by the respondent.
2. The respondent will be given five mathematics problems in every section and it is included to easy task.
3. The mathematics problems that will be given are same between first section and second section.
4. Every section is given 30 minutes to finish the task.
5. In every section, the observer let her to open the note. But not the answer key.
6. First section, the respondent does her task, and the television is turned on.
7. Second section, the respondent does her task, but the television is turned off.
8. The observer I will observe what she does when she solve the task during every section.
9. I will observe the soul symptom from the respondent during every section.
The mathematics problems that will be given to the respondent as bellow:
1. A television is sold by Rp 1,134,000.00. If the profit of this trade is 35%, how much rupiahs the television’s buying-price?

Here is the result of the observation soul symptoms in every section:
Section 1:
• In this section is counted by 30 times the respondent behold the television. Mean of time depth to each time she beholds the television is between 30 seconds until 1 minute.
• She played the pencil during did the task.
• She nodded when she heard the soundtrack of film in the television.
• She scrawled something unclear.
• She said that her teacher ever taught about the matter, but she forgot about the matter and how to solve the problem.
• Finally, she couldn’t finish the task; even she couldn’t answer every question.
Section 2:
• She could finish the task only for 15 minutes 33 seconds. And the answers are right.
Ultimately, in here I will try to analyze the result of the observation. In section 1: her concentration is disturbed with the noise of the television, it was proven with when she did the task was counted by 30 times the respondent behold the television and mean of time depth to each time she beholds the television is between 30 seconds until 1 minute. Moreover the program that was presented when she did the task is cartoon movie, so more and less it gave big affect for her concentration, and finally she couldn’t finish the task though I had let her to open her notes because her concentration was spent out to the television. But, in section 2: the concentration of the respondent could be maximal because her concentration to finish her task was not disturbed of television.
So, its mean that, studying near television is not a good way, because our concentration would not be maximal in study. The voice of television will divisive our concentration and our concentration will tend to the television than study. So our energy and our time will be useless castaway.
